In a manicure set, what are they for?

I got a manicure set and I was just wondering what these 2 ';tools'; were used for.

Well, the picture isn't very good, so I can't really see what the first one is. the second is for pushing back your cuticles. If you wrap a teeny piece of cotton around the other end (like from a cotton ball), you can dip it in nail polish remover and use it to clean up the sloppy parts when you finish painting :)
