How does one do a silk wrap manicure?

When i did them in beauty school, we cut small pieces of silk to cover each nail. Then, we used nail glue to adhere the fabric to the natural nail bed. Then we used small scissors or an emery board to trim and neaten the edge. The idea behind this manicure is that it reinforces the nail. This can also be done to repair a natural nail that has a rip.
